If you hated them you will continue to hate them.

I hate Wyandottes and I don't care how many people tell me nice things about them...I just do not like them and that is ok.

Don't pick a breed you already don't like.
Try a different breed.
I got rid of my Delawares because the hens were too bossy and pushy with people and liked to pick on smaller members of the flock. The roosters were alright. I've heard lots about how wonderful they are, but I don't like their personalities.

I love my Cochins, they aren't pushy at all and they are pretty laid back.

My new Hampshires are nice too. They are curious without being pushy or bitey.

I really dislike my leghorn crosses, too flighty and they were MEAN as youngsters. Now that all the other birds are bigger than them they are fine.

My Chocolate Orps are good too, I just have bad feelings about the large pair because of the experience I had with the seller. I love the 3 smaller hens I got from WVduckchick.

My Cornish are great too, the youngsters do well integrating with other breeds and much younger birds.

Aaw shucks, empty nest. Now that you know you can do it, next time they'll be yours, right?
I have one horse egg in the bator still.
It is suppose to hatch Thursday.
It will probably be early like these two were.
I'm keeping an eye on it.

Next will be quail.
I think.

Are you giving the other horse to the same farmer? I think quail would be awesome. I want some bad. But with so many chickens and other farm animals I'm trying to be reasonable. I did save photos of the quail cages I'd want to make. In case I crack.

I think I will keep this horse if it hatches.

Oh and I greatly dislike leghorns as well.
Well. I will repeat that each hen is an individual and stereotypes are bad.
Yes, Leghorns are known to be flighty, skittish and all. I have one that is a doll. A couple others are pretty sweet out of 7. The RIR red girls are pretty chill, 3 of them. The light reds, I'm starting to call production reds are terrible. Those 3 are antisocial. Lowest on the pecking order. And just not very with it.
The Plymouth Barred Rocks are solid. Not flighty. Just stable and not unfriendly. I've got 4 of those left.

A year ago, the Barred Rocks were the friendliest. Over time, I've got one Leghorn (Ideal 236 cross with a black spot on her chest, so Spot) that is very interested in me. Her and Bigs (3 RIR, she has the biggest comb) watch me the most intently. When I treat call the Barred Rocks run over. When they run over, everyone else is watching and on the way if someone gets something.

After sitting for several minutes, we can pet. The petting is Spot or Bigs. We chest rub most of the others.

Hum. I guess I won't get another production red on purpose. All the rest are welcome.

The 4 week old Easter Eggers really like their mealworm time. We are still getting acclimated to each other.

Like dogs and children, the more time you spend with them, the better behaved they are.
