Ok I’m starting to panic again now for me and all my Texans, louisianans and everyone else in the path of this!!! My small generator will only run a fan or my incubator at best.....what about all my meat and veggies in 3 freakin freezers!! The walk-in EER cooler should be close enough to empty by the weekend 🤣🤣🤣
The important thing would be not to open the freezers so they will hold the cool for at least 24 hours.

yes but it’s the well past 24 hours that i tend to worry about....as @Kiki stated her power was out for like 2 weeks with ike and i know ours was out for at least a week. we didn’t have nearly as many freezers or as much in the freezers then!!

 oh wow! That actually does make sense though since people probably drown or whatever when it hits their house? But it seems like the winds could hurl stuff at people or collapse things? But I guess if you’re inside maybe it wouldn’t be as big a risk? They both seem bad since it seems like you wouldn’t wanna be out in a boat while it’s going on?
In addition to the threat of drowning, flooding forces people out during the height of the storm and exposure gets them. If people get trapped inside during a flood, they can't always get out, safely. That's why an emergency kit should always have tools in it, including a hatchet/ax. Imagine being trapped in your attic with no way to break a hole in the ceiling as the water rises ...
You SURE you want to stay, @Kiki?

You WHAT!? 😱
Because of all the skinny tall pine trees where we lived, we stayed outside for Hugo (Cat 5) because it was less scary seeing which trees were falling where, so we could avoid them. Or so we would not be caught/smashed by surprise inside the house because it was night time.
I'll never forget Hugo.
I don’t like ike 🤬🤬🤬 hopefully Laura won’t be a repeat or worse because we lost power for over a week when I was scheduled to open my office!! FEMA laughed at me because I was “technically” a dentist and shouldn’t need assistance when I had not seen my first patient and all my bill collectors laughed and said “hurricanes don’t hit INdiana” 🤬🤬🤬
Ike was awful! I was in West PA and lost power and water for 9 days. Had to haul water in the truck everyday to keep all my livestock alive. Lots of damage too.

That makes sense! Never thought of that before. That’s terrifying.

Being nervous is not a good thing and can make things worse. Be calm, prepared and careful.
Hmm that’s true too!! And I am sure Kiki is probably already prepared. :) but I’m sure some people would think it’s nothing or whatever and be caught off guard when they’re not prepared. But being nervous definitely leads to stupid decisions.
