Been There ... Done That ... I spent my 18th BD at West Point, as the guest of my Best Friend's brother. I spent my 21'st at the Naval Academy with another friend and her fiance. I've spent time in both sides of the stands at Army/Navy games ... and both were pretty cool! I actually came very close to marrying a Middie, but the Marines' and the Seals' had to have him, first. He was never the same again. PTSD really did a number on him. He's so "lost" that it's hard for him to carry on a conversation. It's so sad!
Still, I live near a big Army base & volunteer with the HS Marching Band at out local VFW, so who knows? I'd date military again in a heartbeat. They're good, solid people ... well, except for my Seal buddy - but there were extenuating circumstances, there.
I married an army man. That dude will eat anything I put in front of him.

My kids always had to eat one bite. Just one bite & they could even wash it down if they wanted.

When I was a kid they’d make us eat the entire amount they put on our plate & we were not allowed to wash it down. My parents were sadistic.

There are a distressingly large number of children, little & big, in this often indifferent world who are in desperate need of someone to ride to their rescue. 😢💕 Thanks, @electrycmonk
Thanks Cindy. It's been a crazy, amazing journey. It's not been easy. The younger 3 are girls and are now all offically teens to boot.

I was a quiet little bookworm. I'm sure the only reason I got the letter was because I got the highest score on the PSATs in my school.

I hope no one felt I was insulting military people in my prior post. Many of my students are ex military, and they are the most reliable and hard working students I get. I love teaming them up with the privileges youngsters.
Not insulting at all. In fact quite to other direction. I am a legacy Veteran. With all branches represented; all the way back to the CW and some geneology work is pointing to the revolutionary war as well.

I firmly believe that not everyone has the skilset for the military. And it is also a belief I have that to think everyone should be is illogical at best.

I'm not a fan of that sadistic parenting option. I can't see any benefit to that behavior.

My parents used to make me sit at the dinner table until I finished my food, hours after everyone else had finished. If I lasted until bedtime it was reheated the next day.
Now I'm just an extremely picky adult. Shocker.

I got a letter from them, too, and some e-mails... my parents found it amusing, considering that I'm rather laid-back and mellow.
Well, relatively mellow. You get what I mean.
I'm not cut out for military school at all.
Me, too. My Dad pushed HARD for me to go to Annapolis. He even had a senator willing to write my letter. I asked them - BOTH of them - if they were freakin' nuts? I honestly wish I could have, but I knew better and told them so. I'm not sure either of them ever forgave me .. but it was for the best ... for everyone!

I was such a good eater (plate looked as clean at the end of the meal as at the start) that I was never forced to eat anything I didn't like.

Bless Your Soul! Three teenage girls at once? Birthed, adopted, fostered, raised with wolves, no matter ... it takes a special person to get ONE girl safely through teendom, let alone three at once.
Respect! :bow
