I have never used the boxed mixes.I really should learn how!! I know how to bake some stuff like cookies and pies and I did try bread once but I mostly bake boxed stuff
I’d like to try bread again. The one I tried was a really simple one and it was good but I want something a little better.
Box mixes can be a good starting place in some cases.I have never used the boxed mixes.
Go buy some baking ingredients and make something.
Boxed mixes... peh.
Purist here, sorry.

The pie and the apple dumpling are out of the oven. One pie and one apple dumpling are in the oven.
It sounds wonderful! The pie and the apple dumpling are out of the oven.
I wish the aroma file would work. If the pie tastes half as good as it smells, it will be absolutely delicious. Th e apple dimpling on the other hand is already half way gone. With some French Vanilla ice cream on it, it is fantastic.
The way I make an apple dumpling for me is to take the extra pie dough from making a pie, roll it out, place it in an 8" pie pan, set a peeled and cored apple in the center. I fill the center with sucralose (brown sugar if not for a diabetic), cover with a very liberal sprinkling of ground cinnamon, place a dot of butter on the top and fold up and seal the dough enclosing the whole apple. This one got baked at 375°F for about an hour.It sounds wonderful!
I've never made an apple dumpling, actually... I must experiment, and add it to my repertoire of recipes....
And someday, I will make Spekkoek. Someday, when I have five hours of free time to make the darned thing....
