Maybe I’ll give them a go again. What do you figure 2 quail per adult on the dinner table?
should I get a little plucker for the quail? Or do you just skin them?
@Nabiki just made a wonderful article on this yesterday! I’d have to go find the link though. But it seems scalding or skinning are the most common.

I have a yardbird plucker that I use for chickens but that would be way to big for quail. Beside the smaller ones for quail are cheap enough. Just wondering if they work well on the small size bird or if everyone just skins them.

Mine was great but just to big. Now I am switching over to have FBCM and my current FBCM Roo is great with chicks and he is very easy on the hens.
Seeing how your closer/est to me if you ever want some FBCM just let me know I’ll give them to you. Have stock from 3 different breeders now.
Yeah, Jack’s probably like at least 10 pounds by now :lau he’s HUGE!! 😂🤣

I also have a bantam Cochin cockerel, about 11 weeks old, so he may be a better choice if Jack doesn’t shape up soon :lau

And that’s amazing!!! :love

I love Marans but I think I probably have enough birds for now. :lau thank you though :love

Yeah, that I’m not sure on  I’m sure if you could find a small enough one it would probably work?

I needed to get the poults out of the brooder so I let the Blue Slate hen and her 5 three week old poults out of the grow out pen. After I got the poults out of the brooder, I found out she was out beating up on another hen. During the fight, I took the three week old poults and put them in with the others in the grow out pen.

Later the hen was fussing wanting her adoptees back and keeping all of the chickens out of the coop. I let her back into the grow out pen and everything finally calmed down. She now has 28 adoptees instead of 5.
