I didn't know what y'all were talking about...I thought your bold word was trying to correct the Saf but then I Googed and got more confused. Thanks.
 
Aha! I've confused someone!
Anyway -- it means "ten minutes of nine." Kind of like how some people say "quarter of two," for example, or "half past ten," for example.
Ten of nine and quarter of two makes no sense.
Is that some kind of new time (like new math) or a home school thing or just a backwards thing?
Doesn't the rest of the world say ten till nine and a quarter till two?
So can 8:30 be half of nine?
