Indeed. It really is horny males though regardless of the species.

I dunno, some of my hens seem to be very squatty when I so much as say hello or look at them.

My duck was doing that for a while. She finally stopped after I got a drake.

The fact that we have roosters seems to mean nothing to my hens.
Of course, the full-sized cockerels aren't quite at the "quick, knock up everything in sight," stage yet, and tiny Zapraska is pretty chill -- I haven't seen him mate with a hen in months, and I think that the last time I saw him do so, he fell off.

None of my hens or pullets have squatted, even the one that is laying.

Mine squat every dang time I try to pick them up. It's convenient, because they don't run away, but soooo awkward.

Seems like the sort of video most in this thread will like.

I heard a lot about them when I visited NZ. They are working very hard to keep them from going extinct and I believe they had a very good hatch last year or the year before.
