Kiki's White Trash and or Nerdy Birthday Bash Funeral

Hey @reddogmaster2 - You're into old muscle cars? You'd LOVE what's in my brother's garage. He's got my Moms (yes, my ol' lady mother's) old GTO! It's either a 68, or 69, I forget which, but it's currently in pieces (many, MANY pieces) in his garage. It's a huge project, but between him and my DS, they plan to get it back on the road ... maybe even in our own lifetimes!
That would be an awesome project!

WOW! Without having to root through the linked post, what variety is it? And how's the taste - both in sauce and fresh cut? Does it have the intensity of the classic Italian plums?
Burpee's Super Sauce

It tastes just like a roma tomato to me. I slice it lengthwise for tomato sandwiches or BLTs. It is a nice meaty tomato. Canned it is just like canned roma tomatoes that you can buy in the store. The difference in canning is that it can fill a quart jar with 2 tomatoes.

As far as making it into a sauce, I can't answer that. I don't make tomato paste or sauce but it can make tomato juice a little too thick.

Do you get alerts for @tags? (sorry tags)
I really gotta turn off my 'like' notifications.
I have all the alerts for tags turned off. If I am tagged in a thread or forum that I watch, I will eventually see the tag. If the tag happens in a non-watched forum or thread, I may never see the tag unless I just happen to stumble across it.

I turned off notifications for reactions received right away. If you want to see what reactions you are getting, click on your user name in the header and either click on the number for Reaction score or the link for Reactions received. There is no need to get alerts for reactions.

My first car was a '63 Dodge Dart. I loved that car.

Oh, late '60s GTO. That's what the idiot kid who totaled my bike was driving. He didn't deserve that beauty.

Some of us have more than a few good secrets that will never see the light of day.
Confirmed, Elk is a serial killer.

Okay grandpa.
Sometimes I get tagged in the emergency forum but I never see it anyway because of the ridiculous amount of alerts.

Black Beauty is the most common eggplant available. It is pretty thorny so be careful when picking. Some eggplants have a bitter taste to them if not salted and let set to draw out the bitterness. Black Beauty is that type. Nadia is not. Nadia has no bitterness to it. In my opinion, Nadia has a nicer texture than does Black Beauty. Nadia has fewer and finer thorns.

The cherry jam is out of this world good. I made the chokecherry jelly in two batches. I like the batch with added lemon better than the batch without. The yellow chokecherries seem to make a blander jelly than the black chokecherries. Eating them off of the tree, the yellow ones aren't as astringent as the black ones and when fully ripe they are also sweeter.

Unfortunately for me, making jelly or jam requires taste testing. I made the mistake of "licking" the pot clean from the cherry jam episode and ended up with way too high of blood sugar.
In my quest to make myself like eggplant, I have discovered that peeling the skin off the black beauty variety makes the flavor good. Just the skins are bitter. My Thai eggplant are flowering but have not produced as of yet.

It is confirmed that I am a serial killer of animals and birds. This is not one of the secrets.

If you turn off your alerts for reactions received, it will reduce your alerts to a manageable level.

More "Shit My Dad Said";

"If you're gonna go out drinkin' you better be the first one up workin'. Otherwise people will think your a wussy".

"When you get your first real man job, be there early and stay late. And dress like you're there to work".

(Dad's response for just about any problem that I had)..."You'll figure it out".

(When I had a bad hitting streak in baseball and went 0 for 21 at bats to start the season)..."Looks like you gotta learn to handle pressure and pressure ain't hittin' a ball".

(When I got my first truck and Dad said be home at 11 and I got home at 11:30 and the doors were locked)..."11 don't mean 11:30. Let me know how those lawn chairs are to sleep on".

Dad was in the Army post WW2 stationed in Germany. Once his Sgt asked for volunteers who could use a typewriter. Dad raised his hand thinking he could get a soft job. Sgt said "GOOD! Grab that damn shovel Private. If you can Type you can damn sure dig a latrine ditch!"

Dad said, "Never volunteer for a desk job"

(When I woke up on the kitchen floor a few hours after midnight when I was 16 with a sore jaw and a headache)..."You'd be smart never to call me an Asshole again"...

Great lessons from a great man...we don't have too many men like that anymore! :D
