Killed a rooster with a .22

I'm here to ask if the 22 is a good method for euthanize a chicken he died instantly(had to kill him because they made him blind and extremely weak to the point of not being able to walk and I tried to help him but he'll just drag himself to hide,whas this the best way to euthanize him?

I have always felt that cervical dislocation was the least traumatic method of dispatching a chicken. A 22 bullet to the head, if properly placed, would be effective.

If it died instantly then I would say it was a good method.

Yes he did he just flapped for 2 seconds but it whas the muscles contracting

The "if properly placed" is really important. There are threads here that deal with the most humane way to euthanize chickens. You can check them, in case you ever encounter this situation again. So sorry about your rooster

He whas a good rooster and good thing is that he had chicks before I had to euthanize him

If it worked for you, and he died instantly: then yes, it was the best way. (Other best ways exist--for other people, for other chickens, for other times. But this was best for you now.)

Sometimes slightly larger rounds work ‘better’. Had the dog get a duck a while back but didn’t kill him, a 9mm works well, sad to say. Took a good chunk out, it was quick that way.

I feel sad because I lost a good rooster my best friend but it whas for his own good
