KILLed SOMETHING...3 roosters

I'm guessing that's the live weight, remove the guts and you lose a couple of pounds easy.

Can anyone else confirm it's a live weight in those catalogs?

It seems like they stop growing at 14 weeks, but that's not really true. We didn't know better and processed half our roosters last year at about 6 or 6-1/2 months old. Then we did the rest two months later. The second batch were significantly larger than the first batch. My BO rooster is over a year old and he is huge and very heavy, but he wasn't anywhere near that size at 20 weeks. We'll have to brine ours and probably crock pot most of them because they are more stringy at that age, but it doesn't bother me. I knew next to nothing abut what I was doing and I learned plenty. lol

It's a trade off, more meat takes more feed; less meat, less feed, and significantly less time. If you really want fast growers, you have to buy meat birds. I'm thinking of raising some freedom rangers myself next year, but I'll still eat my dual purpose roos.
