Killing Station Thread!!!!!!!!

I made the same plucker and used it last time I culled a few weeks back... I used a plastic zip tie on the trigger, fixed it to a sawhorse and plugged it into a power bar... that was the speed was always the same.

I don't have a pic, but I did 44 birds yesterday. I have a whizbang plucker with three killing cones mounted to one side with small buckets under the cones to catch the blood. I dispatch in the plucker mounted cones, scald in a turkey fryer next to the plucker and then do a quick cold bath before plucking. After plucking, my wife does the rest on a cheap folding table. We have a couple of large plastic tubs for the pink water and final chill. It is a cheap setup, but it has served us well for the few birds we have done so far.

In the back of the Whizbang book, he mentioned vaccuming the bags using a small piece of tubing attached to a shop vac. I did that this time and was pleased with the results. I know there are better options out there, but it worked well for me this time. Maybe I will try a foodsaver or shrink bags next time.

At $35/day to rent that set-up, don't bother building a whizbang.

I already have a motor, and a tub available to me, was thinking possibly finding a junk washer to use.

It would be economical.. im a thrifty genius( sometimes)

I already have a plastic folding table, and i could make my own cones. next would be a propane burner/scalder id have to make... but ill definitely research before making a decision

My fingers are 3" long and I measured and cut each one so a finger doesn't smack me on its rotation... ouch!
