Kindle Question

I've had my KF since Dec 13 (my bday present ~ Thanks hubby!) and I don't know how I lived without it. I use it for everything from grocery lists to calendar reminders to reading books and even surfing the web. Yesterday I added Firefox browser to it and now it's even better! The only complaint is the battery life, which can be extended by turning off wifi when you don't need it.

I highly recommend the Kindle Fire.

I don't know if this should be on a new thread or on this one but here goes:

I have 2 pc's with the kindle app (lap top-17" and mini), my son thinks I would really like the fire, so maybe for my birthday this summer.

But in the mean time, if I buy a kindle book, would it work for both? I was looking at amazon and I had options for my pc or for cloud for a book I wanted to read.

So...which would I pick if I want to read it now, but also be able to have it on a Kindle Fire in the future?

And does anyone use their Kindle to use for recipes when cooking? I love Allrecipes.com but end up printing everything and taking in the kitchen or running back and forth.

I have the first edition Kindle back when it was $269. I have never had any issues with it. It has always worked perfectly. If all you need is a nice e-reader without all the bells and whistles, you can get a used first or second edition at very reasonable cost. The original will download the books wirelessly from Amazon.com. It's simple and performs well. The only feature I don't like is that the bars you press for "next" or "previous" page are quite sensitive and easy to press by accident which can leave you searching for your place.

Any books you purchase to read on Kindle PC app will be available for your KF also. We have the PC app, my KF and my daughter has a generic EReader and everything I buy through Amazon (even a year ago) is downloadable to them all. The cloud is great, but you will have to pay a fee eventually for your use of it..I think after 6 months but not sure exactly. Once you have more than one device that uses Kindle you can go to your purchases and direct it to download that book/app to whichever device you want.

There is an Allrecipes App! for the KF...and YES! I do use it in the kitchen instead of printing now.

You will love it.

I also have a Kindle Fire. My husband has told his friends I sleep with it

. I got mine as a Christmas present from my mom. I hadn't even thought of having one. I wanted something more for books as I'm an avid reader, I would say the Fire is more a multi-function tablet. I won't complain though.

My wife was reading her Kindle books through the Kindle app on her laptop. Was a PIA as far as moving it around--she likes to read in the car when we travel. I got her the Fire for Christmas and now she takes it every place--even fits in her pocketbook. And yes, she can get all her Kindle/Amazon books on it.
