Kindle Question

Cool thanks guys. I have an itouch already but it's small and a few years old. The ipad is cool but more exspensive and "apple" oriented, I guess you can download music and such on the kindle fire and use it other places like on a blackberry etc instead of just Itunes like apple....

I LOVE the Kindle app for android phones! I wake up a lot, at night and will pick up my phone and read for a little bit then I can literally fall asleep with the phone in my hand and in a few minutes it shuts itself off, since I am not turning pages. If you are stuck behind a train... read. If you go to the bathroom and discover it might be a while... read. If the line for tickets is taking forever... I can take a bath, in the dark, with only one candle, by my feet and still read.

I've read dozens of books on my phone, in the last few months.

The app is free and you can transfer your books to your Kindle if you decide to get one

It's like I'm a crack/book dealer. I give you the app for free and let you "try it out" (Come on! Everybody's doing it!), then once you are hooked, I set the hook and you are mine for life!

All the old classics are free. Shakespeare, Poe, Chaucer, Melville, etc. No copyright, no $$$.

Ummmm, not exactly.

Jax and Kane are a little too tall to be dachshunds.

I gave my DW a fire for Christmas and, considering that she's technically inept, she likes it. Beats her old way of reading books on her laptop. Like all the kindles, nooks etc., it gets some getting used to but the quality is as good as my DX and Amazon has a huge source of books. BTW, we also have Prime so we can borrow books for free.

We love our Kindle Fires, we all got them for Christmas. It is very responsive and does everything I want it too. It is very similar to my iPhone 4, but bigger. I like it better than the iPad because the Fire is a nice size and will fit in a medium size purse. If I had an iPad, it would probably stay at home and not get used as much. I've had Kindle's since their first ereader came out,and I have loved every one.

I have the old kindle and also the fire. I really like it and, quite unexpectedly, so do my grown kids and grandkids. In fact, I went to see how the forum works on there and the battery was run down. Evidently some of the kids were here today...I need to put a sticker on it asking them to plug it in when they leave. The kids can play games on it or watch movies. I like it more than I expected...but I broke the old kindle the other day and I realized I still would like to have it. The screen is easier to read in bright light or outside. So, now I gotta order another! They have also updated it and I like the updates.

I was going to get a Fire for Christmas but as I researched it, realized it wasn't really what I was looking for. I'm not much of one for listening to music or watching movies. What I wanted was the eInk display so I could read books. From everything I read, the Fire isn't that great as an eReader - it is more a competitor for the iPad, which doesn't hold any interest for me at all. So I wound up getting the Kindle 3G and I love it. The eInk display is awesome and I have the keyboard so I can type notes or play games very easily. There are so many free books available that I won't even need to purchase any books for awhile. Since Christmas I've already read quite a few books and have collections of recipes books to search any time I like too.
