Also called Excalfactoria chinensis but nobody says that. Buttons may not be accurate but people do call them buttons.

You are right, they have plenty of names. I call them king quails because that is a common name for them and that way they are not confused with other species.

There are other species of quail that are button quail here so I'm just avoiding confusion. Technically king quail don't even fall in the button quail family.

I'm not opposed to anyone calling them buttons. I mean, the same problem falls with Japanese quails being called coturnix quail, but let's not get into that. I was just casually stating a fact
