Kitten

I live in Richmond Virginia. I don't know how old the kitten is but I would guess 6-8 weeks? It is TINY. That is why its threat level took me So off guard.

I realized it must have been trying to get in for two nights prior because both mornings their waterers were tipped over and that has never happened before.

Is it best to buy a trap?

Nevermind! I was just being GRUMPY.

Thanks for all the encouragement. There have been two more sightings today, but everyone is okay. We have shored up the coop and we put out a live trap baited with cat food, now to see if we can catch it!

Poor thing is just hungry...

Just trap it and bring it to the SPCA to either be adopted or put down...

Let's see if I'm following this correctly, your hubby was scratched etc by a feral cat and you are trying to figure out what to do, in the meantime has hubby talked to a medical professional about the incident.

Why do I keep hearing a clock ticking?

Your husband should at least get a tetanus shot, and have the bite looked at. May need an antibiotic as well. It is really important to catch the kitten who could be really nasty, or maybe rabid.

It's great to care about animals but, human family should come first - please!!

A kitten that is smaller than a chick shouldn't even be able to break the skin with its bite due to a lack of jaw strength... the claws are a different story, those things are sharp from early on.

Do not under estimate that kittens ability or even need to pierce skin in order to pass rabies.

There have been instances where kittens just old enough to be given to new owners having passed rabies.
