We adopted a kitten 1 year ago from the shelter when she was approx 4 months old. We got her fixed and shots shortly after. She lives in the barn - there is an insulated area in there, but she does have a cage, litter box, food/water, and bed in the main barn. We have cat allergies here, so no chance of a cat living in the house. She is small, and her name is Penny. We lock her inside the barn at night, but rarely she is not back when we close up -so she roams but only in warm weather. We are keen to get her inside the barn in cold or wet weather.

one thing I’ve noticed, she keeps stray cats away, for the most part! She had a fight with something one day .. middle of the afternoon. Maybe a stray? We had to take to the vet a few days later bc she had a scratch on her eye, and was still experiencing some pain (but there were no obvious wounds). She got a long acting antibiotic, a pain shot, and antibiotic eye ointment, and was much better and eye is fine. Luckily not many strays here, but pretty sure the ones we see come from the farm across the street (their barn is 1/4 - 1/2 mile down the road).

Luna had a grooming appointment today and they asked if I wanted her nails done too and I said yes and I felt really bad

But apparently she was really good lol

They brushed her, shaved her mats off her butt, and did her nails and apparently she did “express her anal glands” so they washed her bum a bit. I felt really bad when she told me that

But everyone loved her and thought she was so cute.

The groomers and receptionists were all like “she’s so cute!!” and she also planted herself on the checkout desk and they’re like “we have a new employee!” put her down while I was signing the receipt and she just laid on their mousepad and wouldn’t leave LOL they tried to get pictures of her but being a typical CAT she would not cooperate and look at the camera

But she apparently did really well.

And on the ride home she just tucked her little paws under her and laid on the seat like a good girl.

Maybe I should start taking her on road trips.

Her carrier seems to have gone missing though so I had to use her harness and leash (yes I have those harness for a cat ) and she had a bit of an escape stunt this morning LOL jumped right out the back of the car when I was trying to close it!!! Didn’t think cats leapt out of tailgates like that haha super cat!! Then she slipped her harness!! Was supposed to be a super secure, escape proof harness. and she made us chase her a bit. Did finally catch her though lol

Also she wouldn’t let go of me at the groomer’s

She had a good day though I think haha
