Kitty litter in Nest Box?

Oh i use shavings.. i would not chance using cat litter
but i do use the handled pail s from litter as nest boxes.
hook them on to the walls close to the floor and works great and
the eggs dont roll out.and easy cleaning to just unhook
and re hang.

Not that I use it but..What about the non clumping clay type litter (el cheap litter)? It isn't deodorized because it smells like dirt. I wouldn't use it for the cat though because it begins stinking after a day.

Could you show pictures? Nesting boxes are the next step for me and I was going to use 5 gal buckets but this sounds interesting.

Why not?? Whats the difference between litter and wood shavings?

Most litter is largely CLAY. I use shavings on the floor, and hay in the nest boxes.

Think about a bird's nest, and use those types of materials.

Hens like to gather the material around them in a bowl shape. I cant see them doing that with litter
