*****Kitty problems!@#$%**&^@$******

Please post photos. Let all us BYC'ers judge how old it is, and, how cute it is. I think generally, full feathered age birds are ok but little fluffy bits are not.
I'm concerned about the age of kitty since our last addition was dumped skin and bones at the estimated age of 4 weeks old. Sometimes it just happens; our little guy did fine being cared for on the front porch. After 4 weeks, I took it to the vet (since it calculatingly adopted DH) and vet said then it was 6-8weeks old. Also home treated for severe ringworm skin infection.

Anyhow, sounds like you got a cat. Best wishes.

Our 4 mo old kittens stalk my 6 week old pullets... so I keep them OUT of the pen. But they leave the older chickens alone, in fact they give them a VERY wide berth when going to the communal drinking fountain! I wouldnt worry too much.

ETA: the kitties live in the coop building but dont have access to the inner chicken pen. We got them to get rid of the mice. at 3 months old they were avid mousers and are now plump lil things that dont require much food anymore from us they keep so busy between the 13 buildings in our farmyard!

I believe you can call the animal control facility and ask them if there is discounted prices for "barn" cats...

I think it is sweet that the kitty likes the chickens so much it will hang out with them. Cats are not into eggs, but very much into rodents, he/she is likely hunting the critters attracted to the chicken feed.

Feed the kitty, have the local vet give it the once over and some vaccinations to keep it healthy, and be sure to get it spayed or neutered. God has a way of sending us animals we never knew we wanted or needed....

Cats never bother the chickens here, and only hear of a few stories of cats getting chicks, maybe a small hen if feral and starving. Here the cats are welcome to the coops and often bring out mice and rats as their own rewards. I welcome the ferals and have them stay as they are great rodent control.

I would like a coop cat, bring it to me. What's one more? The other outside cats are friends with the raccoons, so I need to even the playing field.
