Ok, so a little background on this thing I have to share. I had two chickens, I now have one, she sounded so pitiful all alone in her yard that my mom let me get some chicks. The chicks( in a brooder box) and the chicken(started pullet) are currently in my fenced in carport while I fix them a bigger yard.

Now, my cats have this thing where they knock against my screen door to let me know they want in. This chicken has watched them for the past few days and has figured out that I answer the door even if I can't see who is knocking. She has knocked several times already and waltzed her bloomered butt right through my front door like she owns the place. Instead of knock knock I should say Bock Bock.

That is adorable!!! When I freerange my pullets and they want me outside with them the whole flock will come to the patio and make a ruckus so I come out, then proceed to scratch at my pants with thier beaks until I give them meal worms. Spoiled birds!! None dare venture into the house though!

Great Story! Knocking on the door, from watching the cats, is pretty creative thinking.
These birds are smarter than they are given credit for. I have 2 girls in recovery from a severe pecking. I let them roost of the back of my chair during the day. My wife would call out to me to set up a Snack Tray to eat lunch. I would give the 2 a crust of bread or piece of meat from my sandwich. Now, several days later. Simply hearing my wife yell out to set up the tray table and the 2 girls will launch themselves, on to my Shoulders, to wait for their Cut of my Lunch...JJ
