ok seeing you all talk about this, I saw a small bottle at the store and bought it, it was "ginger kombucha" so does that make a difference, I like ginger but it was really strong and I'm not sure I'd ever buy it again, it was all natural oh and it was carbonated, is that part of the normal final product? We've always gotten ours from kombucha lovin' friends![]()
I find that the flavor and level of carbonation varies by brand - and doesn't compare to homebrewed, IMO. My KT isn't super carbonated (I'd call it "lightly" carbonated) because I don't add sugar at bottling or use sugary fruit juice to flavor mine. Commercially-produced kombucha tends toward the highly carbonated side.ok seeing you all talk about this, I saw a small bottle at the store and bought it, it was "ginger kombucha" so does that make a difference, I like ginger but it was really strong and I'm not sure I'd ever buy it again, it was all natural oh and it was carbonated, is that part of the normal final product?
Thanks, I will try it again but in a different flavorI find that the flavor and level of carbonation varies by brand - and doesn't compare to homebrewed, IMO. Ginger is probably one of the more spicy flavorings, so you might enjoy another, milder, flavor like fruit.
No but I will go and buy some and let you know.@katsdar , is this the brand you tried - http://www.goldakombucha.com? It's made in GA...I'm curious how the oak affects the flavor.

I ordered my husband a dehydrated scoby from a company. He also got a second from a friend. I never have extras though because we feed them to the livestock, but it was only like $15 for the dry scoby.come on fellow Byc members and share your scoby.... just like us gardeners share our plants.. Like I have strawbery plants to give away. as they mutiply so much I did get some kefir grains but the lady was kind but only sent me like 1/4 tsp.. I can barely find them each time I rinse and tranfer to new container....so it really a bust. That why I keep asking for kefir on CL.... Oh hope to find someone to get me some GT classic original Kombucha cant find it in this little town so I can grow my own.. Duh thanks all
