Kosher King Broilers Cleaning Question

I just slaughtered and "cleaned" my first batch of Kosher Kings. I'm used to Freedom Rangers and am experienced in processing. My question is this..I kept getting a lot of "hairs" left on the carcass. Black, short ones...all over them...and awful to get off...I guess pinfeathers. I am not 100% certain my 240 volt scalder is working perfectly thermostat wise..and it's a very hot day here...but I tried scalding longer and got the skin a bit too pink as happens with a slight over scald...and still they had these hairs after using my Featherman Drum plucker. I've never seen hairs like this in any quantity before on chickens I've cleaned. These guys are 10 weeks old and all are roosters which I know makes them automatically a bit harder to clean than pullets. I'm beginning to wish I'd stuck to the Freedom Rangers who are way easier to clean...at least in my experience.

I will also say that the Freedom Rangers seem plumper at 10 weeks. I was going to do another batch later this week but may hold off and give them more time to grow out. Perhaps this is just a weird stage kind of like ducks have. Danged if they don't remind me of cleaning ducks the way the pinfeathers are (have done both Pekins and Muscovies).

Anyway, I'm wondering what others experiences are with this variety. If this is normal for them, I'll go back to the FR's.

Thanks!

I just wanted to add that I checked the temp in my scalder...refilled it and got a thermometer and it was 150 F at the top...so it was certainly hot enough. I thought I had the scald right so I was baffled at the awful pinfeathers. Not sure what to make of it...would love to hear from someone else who has raised these broilers.

Thanks!
