Are their any laws in Louisiana that require you to have any kind of P/T testing done on attendees?

Texas is a closed state and unless those attending from Texas have been tested either by NPIP, or the Texas State Vet, and have the proper paperwork, they may not be able to re-enter the state (at least not legally.) Furthermore, if Texans leave the State and are caught coming back in, or it is discovered that they have left the state with their birds, their flock could be seized, and I think fines could be imposed if they dont have the proper paperwork.

Hate to be a downer, just want to make sure Texans know the rules.

Christopher -

I do not know of any laws requiring attendees being tested. I feel somewhat bad, because I didn't even think about the laws of birds crossing state lines, having to be tested first.

Do you know whom I would contact to find out this information? BTW, you are not being a downer. I appreciate the information and want to make if safe, fun and legal for all that attend and their chickens also...lol

Thanks,
Dorothy

HMMMM.... I know in Texas the governing body is the Texas Animal Health Commission or TAHC. They set all the livestock laws in Texas, and the State Vet does all the testing and enforcing of the rules.

Try these people for Louisiana...

Thanks Christopher. I will phone him first thing in the morning. Oh, today is Friday, I will probably have to do that first thing Monday morning.

Alright, i have contacted the correct officials and this is what I have found out:

For all birds that will be entering into LA, you will need the following:

Pollorum testing (Unless they come from a flock that have already been tested. You will need the health certificate. All birds will have to have a leg band or wing band with the flock # and date of last test on it.)

I was told that this is just for birds that will be coming in from other states.

Ok, with that said, I am still waiting on confirmation as to whom will be attending and what they will be bringing. Thus far, there has been only one confirmation and I thank that person for letting me know well in advance that he will be attending and bringing 2 others with him.

We need more than one member to attend, for this to be considered a chickenstock.

Please let me know ASAP. I will be preparing food and will need to know how much to prepare.

Thanks,
Dorothy

I am still trying to decide if I can make it or not. I have invited a friend to come with me but she is not sure yet either. I also have a cousin who lives in Osyka that I need to call. He raises Dark Cornish Game Bantams that he shows. I know it's frustrating not to be able to get a head count, but just can't tell yet.
