Labored breathing please help!

I have a 8 month old roo that was attacked by a racoon last night. He has survived the attack, I found him about a 1/2 acre from the coop beat up pretty bad

His injuries from the outside dont look toooo bad, but he is breathing funny, like there is fluid in his throat or something. Is there ANYTHING I can do to help him get his strength to get through this?? I feel like if he survived the attack, he is pretty strong willed!! I have him in a cat carrier in our mudroom window. He has food and water, but wont touch it. I did give him water with a dropper, and he did drink.
I dont want him to suffer, but have never culled anything, and am not ready for that at this point. For example... I took a 3 day old chick to be put down at the vet...so I really cant do it yet. I am hoping he'll pull through. Are there any vitamins, foods, etc that would help him heal, or pull through?? Any advice is appreciated!

he is still alive, hasnt eaten, giving him water by dropper, poop looks normal, any suggestions to get him stronger? the breathing doesnt sound as bad.

He was probably a bit stocky, with good reason. I would put ploy- vi-sol in his water. You can give scrambled egg or warm canned dog food. If he still refuses to drink you can take a syringe w/ a needle and inject him under his skin on his back, with the vitamin & water solution. This will help keep him hydrated. Best thing is to keep him warm, calm in a dark place and hydrated. Antibiotics would be good too to ward off infection. Best wishes

Just an update...he has completely pulled through his major injuries. I hand fed him and syringe watered him for 2 weeks, he then began drinking, and finally eating on his own. He seemed to "come back" with a real look about him a few days ago. I think all of his bones have healed for the most part, he isnt as mis shapen as he was, his feathers are growing back, and all major cuts have healed. I have been diligently carrying his carrier back and forth each morning to join his "friends" and just keeping him alongside their area so he was kinda in on the action and sounds, etc...... and finally this morning for the first time he tried to crow! Its a pathetic crow, I think his throat is irreversibly damaged, but that's OK with me...I cant even believe he made it!!

that is a admirable, thing that you did...I probably would have counted it as a loss...and started looking for another...rooster...now that he is recovering...give him some vienna sausages...maybe, make it a treat once a week...good job

Thanx for responding...Ya know I complained that I wound up w/ too many roos. Was going to give him away. My friend culls and eats her unwanted/needed roos, he was kind of our ugly duckling.....had a few resp. things when we got him, but always pulled through, he is a strong willed one. He was always the most unhealthy one I have had..but as he grew he got more and more beautiful. I decided to keep him and then him and my head roo started trying to kill each other. He was almost killed by that roo, and I nursed him back to health. I had seperated them and built a smaller pen for him near the others. I am broke so I used scrap wood from a friend. There was a 6" by 2" cut at the top (which the top is netted), which I thought was fine...my carelessness in thinking that is the reason the coon got him...the fact that he survived the attack, and had that strong will so many times over...I told him as I carried him to the house(bleeding and severly wounded) that if he pulled through this I wouldnt give him away ....he would stay with us without being culled or eaten.
Even though he's "just a roo" I am so glad he pulled through!
