Lab's ears?

My Lab usually has his ears back, like yours. It means he is relaxed and happy. The only time they come forward is when he's on alert.

I am not saying you would. I just don't understand how they could make that the breed standard if it doesn't even occur naturally, or very rarely.

Your dog's ears are fine the way they are, for a pet. Of course you couldn't ever show her, and you should never breed a dog with a fault. For with each generation, the fault will show up again and again, and there are already far too many dogs being put down in shelters every day. As far as a pet goes, she is beautiful, enjoy her.

But as you can see from the pic she was bred, and the puppies ears where not like this, Oh well

I still love her

I have a chow-mation and she looks like a black lab. Her ears are generally turned inside out (flipped back on her head) but she sometimes has them down. I just accept her for who she is and love her all the same. Never had any problems with her ears or her hearing so until something comes up I wouldn't worry about how the ears sit on her head. Just sayin'.

That looks like a type of ear called a 'rose ear'. Similar to what a Greyhound would have. Your dog appears to have a 'submissive' posture about her, and holds her ears back as a result. I'd bet if you got her attention with squeaky toy or something she likes, she might *pop* them forward temporarily.

ETA: this link explains all the different 'types' of ear sets.

Definitely a good point! my almost 14mo lab holds her's like the first picture, but we've had a battle with yeast .. so annoying.
