This is my Project 365 thread. I already know I'm likely to miss a few days here and there, but I'm going to try my best (and hopefully not give up by February like a New Year's resolution, lol).

My first picture is also the first picture I've taken this year. I have a big YouTube video coming tomorrow and needed pictures for it. This is of my Matchbox Toyota 4-Runner, which completes my 4-Runner collection of this model of all released so far. (This exact picture won't be in the video, but this car will be.)

Thanks for starting this thread. I look forward to seeing more pictres from you.

It's fairly early, but I already have my first picture today. On this thermometer, I haven't seen it get this cold yet, so I wanted to get a picture of it.

And it feels that cold outside too! I didn't want to go in the coop this morning because I figured opening the door would let some of the heat out, but I had to check on the waterer. The hens were so cold, that one of them was even sitting on the ground, which I never see. This is really a bad time for them to be molting. On their waterer, it did have a little ice around the rim, but still able to be drank. This is probably the third time I've had ice in the rim since I’ve had that heated base (aside from someone accidentally shutting the power off to it), though on at least the first time, the ice was covering the whole rim so undrinkable.

Brrr!

is your waterer on the ground or do you have a barrier between them? Even a couple of inches of wood under it will help keep the heat from the base from getting suck up by Mother Earth. Granted. at subzero temps all bets are off. :)

It's in the coop on a wooden platform. When it had frozen over in the past, it was by the coop door, but this year, I have it by their smaller door. (I keep it in those places because it's less likely to be filled with shavings during the day.) The chickens haven't been let out in a few days due to the cold, so thankfully cold air from their door isn't a factor besides maybe a small draft coming in from underneath.

A picture of the moon I took a little after 5:30 am this morning:

(Taken with my Canon EOS Rebel T7.)

I was trying to get something more like this:

(Taken with my phone, Samsung Galaxy A35 5G.)

I couldn't get my Canon to cooperate for a picture like that. I tried messing around with the settings, but either the moon was way too bright, or I only got the moon. I was also in a bit of a rush (my Mom was heading off to Virginia this morning, so I wanted to say bye before she left), so I couldn't play around too much, plus I didn't have my camera stand.
I have done several moon pictures in the past, typically with my telescoping lens, and it's usually the same issue. I think only once I was able to capture more than just the moon, but I was by a lake and had the moon's reflection on it. I was zoomed out more, and might have had some clouds working in my favor.
Then with my phone, obviously, it has no quality. I got a couple of shots where the moon wasn't as bright, but I didn't like where the tree was located.

Either way, I'm happy I at least got a picture. I've had the moon shine into my bedroom window like a flashlight plenty of times, waking me up, and I've been wanting to get an early morning picture of the moon for awhile now.
Then, when I rushed out this morning and had have the moon wake me up, I wanted to get a better view of it. So I went to the end of my driveway and saw the clouds under the moon and my trees to the right looking so beautiful, I just had to rush back in and grab my camera for a quick shot. :love

Here's a couple bonus pictures. I took these last night:

Here’s today's shot (January 5, 2026):

I don't really have any ideas for today, and of anything I did have, I thought of it too late. The day isn't over yet, so I might try getting a bonus one for yesterday. :D
