They don't, lol. Some do work better than others, like Red and Sapphire. For Sapphire, she was entertained by simply eating the new grasses and everything else she found. On most of the pictures I got of her looking up, it was either her looking around for possible dangers or trying to figure out the sounds I was making to get her to look up. Red was more of slowly exploring, so that made her easy as well, plus I was able to capture more photos of her head up (but more of her walking away). On Jamaica, she didn't cooperate at all. Once she got a quick view of everything, she was on the move toward every place I didn't want her to go. (Hense why there's not as many pictures of her as the others.)
For photo shoots like this, it's usually best to pick your calmer, more people-friendly chickens as they're easier to work with. (This isn't always the case though. I've had plenty of hens who insist on standing on top of me while I photograph.) If you have the right setup though, I believe any chicken could be worked with. Like with Jamaica, if I had brought her there for the morning Golden Hour instead of the evening, where I would have had more sunlight to work with, plus was using my bigger camera lens, then I think I could have gotten as equally many good pictures as with the others.

This Summer was a bit busy, as well as me battling some bouts of discouragement (and my favorite camera, the T5, is on the verge of retirement). I was still taking pictures, but I never got around to sharing many of them. So, I decided to do some Summer highlights. I'm going to do three different posts by category because there is quite a few pictures. I hope you all enjoy!
First up, as this is the main focus of my photography, I'm going to be sharing some of my chicken highlights. And yes, you'll probably notice that my young EE, Winter, has been the star most of the Summer as she has grown.

Winter again in an off-farm photo shoot. This was the farthest I've ever taken my birds for a photo shoot, which was a lot further than my typical "walking distance" off-farm photo shoots. Unfortunately, I didn't really get many great pictures for the effort I put into it, but I did have a great time with the birds I had brought.

Flowers from this Summer:
This photo shoot actually wasn't shared due to me waiting to get pictures of my late-blooming lily. Though the lily did eventually bloom, when the time finally came I didn't feel like taking pictures of it (with the excuse that I had taken pictures of it in previous years). Then, as time went on, I just never got around to sharing these pictures.

My Purple Dream (which I like to call, Not-So-Purple Dream for them being pink):

Some random weed I let grow hoping it was a flower I had planted last year (that never bloomed):

Finally, the pictures from my camping trip this year. Most of these pictures were taken one morning when I had gotten up early. The fog coming off the lake was was so beautiful that I wanted to capture it. Then I took a few pictures of the dock and stuff because those looked pretty in the morning sun and I was able to get a couple of unique shots.
