Lakenvelder colors

Yes, isn't that golden hen just beautiful! Great photo too.

I guess the picture below must be the White Buff White which is going extinct. Too bad- lovely birds.

I'll bet the blue buff blue were pretty.

I had no idea there were so many different possible pattern colors.

I wonder what it would take to recreate them? I would think a white blue white pattern would be absolutely beautiful.

Drom - you must also have a rooster named Rooroo. We couldn't come up with a *good* name for this guy when he was little but then we started saying "Come here you little rooroo" Name stuck.

The Pullet doesn't really have a good name either. My husband calls her Sweetheart. I call her Pumpkin.

Chikies-n-Duckies - can I ask where you got your eggs from?

I am so happy to hear some people like their Lakenvelders!
I was so thrilled with their color that I placed an order for some. Sure hope I get this raising chicks done right.

Vorweck Bantams are rare in US but as far as I know there are two breeders right off my head that you can get some chicks from. One of them is Chickhatchery.com, he also raises Amercuana Bantams and LF. Limited time and limited supply as well.

So, in making these white buff white lakenvelders - what would you use if you wanted to make a standard size white buff white? What would you cross the Lakenvelder female with in substitue for a Buff Dutch bantam?

white neck blue body white tail?

This is how the whites were created:

They are not exstinct yet. I created them last year but they will never be approved by the vorwerkclub because it is a german breed. The germans must approve it first.
So their line ends here...

Those are awesome!! That is by-far my favorite colored Lakenvelder (that I have seen so far!!

The only lakenvelder colors that I know of here are the golden and silver. Golden is black head and tail with a buff body, and silver is black head and tail with a white body.

I have goldens, and the roos have much better coloring. The pullets I have are like the first one pictured by pbjmaker, with a lot of black on their bodies.

I need to get some more pullets, I have 1 roo about 7 months old, and 4 more that are about 4 months old. Only 2 4-month-old pullets.
