so i got 9 chicks from Meyer hatchery and with every order they offer a free chick as the “Meyer meal maker.” It’s an initiative for donating eggs or meat birds to families in need so of course we took another chick!!

They said this was a lakeshore Egger. I am unfamiliar with the breed and it doesn’t look like their pictures on their website IMO. She had a fluffy tuft on her head and is quite pretty. At first we thought it was another Partridge Penedesenca as we had one in our order and she looked like her!

So is she a lakeshore and does anyone know anything about them?!?

Lakeshore's are technically not a breed. They are a crossbred specific to Meyer Hatchery. They crossbred Legbars to make "more colorful" blue/green egg layers. Also small chance she will lay a brown egg. But they don't breed true so there is no telling how the patterns would be. That would explain the pattern and crest of your pullet. I would say you indeed have a "Lakeshore". So basically the made an "Easter Egger" type of chicken using Legbar rather than Aracuna.

How do you like your Lakeshore Egger? Since learning of them last year have been trying to learn more about them, considering getting a few.
I love her! She is a bit elusive but she is extremely friendly and happy. She has laid consistently since starting laying 4-5 eggs a week. Hers a green and have a lovely round shape to them. She is also very pretty!
