The next morning, Mali cried out for Daru and the others.

Daru ran to her "Are you ready for your children?"

She panted hard. "Y-yes... its just... the pain..." She struggled for breath as jerks began to ripple through her body as her pups began to move.

"Listen to your body! The pain will ease!"

She grabbed a stick in her mouth. She took a breath as a ripple passed through her, and one pup flopped onto the soft moss. She moved him over and licked him, and a whine sounded from his body, knowing he had taken his first breath eased Malis nervousness. He had a silver coat like Mali.

"Bless this young one, the first born." She prayed "He will grow mighty and strong."
 
Another shock of pain passed through her body and a second silver female fell onto the moss. Mali licked her and she let out a squeal. She placed her by her brother to nurse.

Mali convulsed again, and a black pup with dark green eyes flopped out. Another female. Mali licked her until she caught her first breath.
