Meanwhile Jaclyn, Samantha, Candy, Nelek, Malik, Jerome, and Gretchen flew back up the canyon and to the cave. Jerome wrapped some vines around Mitar's legs and around his muzzle, just enough so that he could speak but not enough for him to bite anyone. They unshackled him and took him, flying with him through the canyon.

The shackles around Mitar's feet kept him from getting to her. The fog swallowed her up, making it impossible to see what happened to her. Right before she hit the ground something caught her on its back, saving her.

Candy flicked her ears, and Nelek flew up, dropping Ranu. Her ribs had been broken, and was struggling to breathe. (Its an illusion)
