Lakia: The Dark Era

By this time Natalya had made contact with Sara and the ground troops had fallen back to assist Aaron when Juniper led Zenobia out. The only one pressing forwards now was Amelia whos task was to rescue Jack. She continued on alone, tracking them by sound.

Juniper slipped somewhat clumsily through a narrow pass, trying to keep her talons from clinking against the hard stone. There was a dimly lit room ahead of her and the voices were very clear now. I guess this is it. Juniper felt a chilling tingle trickle through her body. She had heard of Zenobia's power, her fast-thinking and unpredictable nature. Juniper's ears twitched forward, as she listened intently. She fell into a crouch and crept forward, looking for moving shapes.

Amelia arrived a minute after Juniper. She pressed herself against the cave wall and floor and waited.

Juniper took a few more steps forward before she spotted a dark shape standing over a smaller, lighter creature.
Zenobia!
Juniper stood up, hesitant at first. She flared her crest and walked forward, her talons clinking loudly against the stone.
"I see you find enjoyment in torturing creatures smaller than you." Juniper spoke from the darkness, her eyes glowing. "Doesn't surprise me at all."
