This chick cannot stand on it’s own. I build a quick brooder for it out of desperation because it was getting trampled in the other brooder. I dont really want to cull, but I need help. Any ideas?

That is a relatively common hatch defect and/or caused by slippery surface in incubator or brooder. Personally, I would cull but you can try shot glass or booties to correct. @Nabiki may be able to give instruction or link to article/thread as I believe she has had success with these methods.

I tried. It flopped out. 😆 I’ll try a double shot after work.

NOOO don't cull it. It's so cute :(
I can’t - I took it out in the sun with me and it falls asleep on my chest/tummy… mainly because it’s already laying sideways. But still.

I ordered another heater plate specifically for this chick. I’m determined on getting it strong.

😆😆 got back on and just noticed the “countdown to 👙 season” soo funny! Okay, so I’m pretty much babying this chick. If it passes, then I’ll feel like a doctor that did everything it could. Thank you for advice!

UPDATE: after a lot of observations, it’s the neck that is the problem, not the legs. Seems like the neck isn’t strong enough. Working with the chick slowly in eating and drinking and practice standing.

UPDATE: I found Alex (yes, I named it) standing this morning. Not once flopped over today. Eating and drinking great! Hoping to join it with the others soon again.

NEW QUESTION: I’m going to start a new post about how to keep track of certain birds through their maturation cycle.
