Lame hen

One of my hen s came up lame a week ago but unsure how. Looks like it is one leg as she tries to walk. She eats and drinks and talks just fine. I have to put her in co-op at night but she gets out ok. Any ideas on how to help her?

Or how to put her down with paying a vet which is costly? I hate to do that but ...

Can you take a video of her, post it to youtube then provide us a link.

Have you examined her legs and feet for injury, Scaly Leg Mites, Bumblefoot, heat/swelling?
How old is your hen?
When was the last time she laid an egg?
List any other symptoms that you observe that would be helpful.

Hopefully with more information we can can give you some suggestions.

You mention how to put her down, but she is eating/drinking o.k. - can she move around and eat/drink on her own or are you having to assist her with that as well?

Does she put weight on the leg or hold it up and hop? Sometimes a video will help, and you can post it to YouTube or Vimeo and post a link here.
How high are your roosts? Is she heavy? Sprains are common, and those can take a few days or weeks to improve. Look her leg over well up to her hip for any redness, bruising, or swelling especially on joints. Look at her footpad for any scabs that may be bumblefoot. Make sure that she can get to food and water.
