My Sebastopol gander hatched this year around feb/march (about 5 month old) has been off his feet for 2 days he can't even stand up his legs just go limp. I have recently wormed all my geese with flubenvet it said to worm them 7 consecutive days in a row but i stopped after about 3 days when i seen him off his feet incase it was the wormer that has caused this. He is very greedy and is first into the food so he could have had too much food with wormer in, any advice on how to help him/ treat him would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to do a flush on him if you suspect the wormer. or when he was younger did you use niacin or brewers yeast to help combat weak legs? might just be a coincidence.

I'd use the molasses or Charcoal not the brickets you use for grilling out though. and follow the direction to the T. It may not be either I just hope you can get him back on his feet. Is he eating and drinking still?

Thanks Miss Lydia,
thankfully he is eating and drinking well but still I'm really worried & nervous to give flush but will follow to a T. I haven't gave him niacin or brewers yeast when he was younger, my last gander raised from a gosling developed angel wing from I'v been told off too much protien in the feed so with Sebastian I have been very carefull not to give him too much protein/feed he gets lots of grass and I was mixing his feed with crushed grass & hay, (you know the stuff they use for guinea pigs) a waterfowl expert at the wetlands told me to do this. I'm frightened his diet could be too much fibre not enough protien?? Or it could be wormer, just seems funny how hes went limp after having wormer. Hope the flush picks him up will let u know how it goes, I will call a waterfowl vet if he doesnt pick up. Thankyou so much for your post :)

I have an avian vets number here that is local hopefully they will deal with fowl, will ring them now thanks Lydia
I hope you can get some answers, In his weakened condition I'd hate for you to do a flush and it just make him worse. Please let us know what you find out.

Hi Miss Lydia thanks for asking after Sebastian, he is alot better on his feet & even went for a swim today. I went out and bought Verm X keep well pellets to mix in with his feed, Multi vitamin & mineral conditioning liquid and Verm X liquid for intestines to mix in his drinking water. I have been told dead worms poisoning him are the reason he is off his feet, this would make sense since i wormed them all and had to stop worming after 3days when he went lame. The specialist that told me this is giving me drugs to get rid of them tonight. Hopefully this is whats wrong and it will sort him out, really sorry to hear about your 2month gander Jessie you could try the things I have mentioned above as they have picked Sebastian up so much he couldnt even stand a few days ago now he can stand even walk (not great but massive improvement) and swim & get himself out of the pond.
