Land of the Lions you ask well lookie here...

Were't you afraid that it would jump down on you? Did you have any kind of protection?
When I saw the pics a primeval fear came over me for you.
Where's the teeth chattering smiley?

The lethalness (good word huh?

) aside.... that is such a beautiful, regal cat. What a great picture.

We rarely have cougars around here but they do come through every few years or so. Several people in our county have had their horses and alpacas attacked and killed by them.

I've wanted to have big cats since I was a little girl. I ended up having children instead and am 100% happy with my decision. Not, that I don't long for that other dream once in a while.

I'm a scardy cat, no way would you catch me outside with that big cat.

You are very brave, and you can keep that big fellow by you!

You know the funny thing was I was not afraid of it...it was not tense, agitated, jumpy or anything other than just very relaxed and only mildly curious about me. It was sorta standing up and ducked in the tree limbs when I first came walking up and then it just laid down and relaxed...watched me go about my business and go back inside.

I kept a wary eye on it of course and did nothing that I thought would agitate or excite it. Except shine a light at it and snap pictures. LOL

I did avoid putting the light in its eyes and face in general.

I did have a 9mm with me, I do not go outside at night around here without one as the property itself is very wooded and dark at night. My coop looks eerie on cold nights with the red heat lamp light shining through the ventilation holes. LOL

Oh yes they will grab an alpaca if they get the chance or an older weak horse. It takes a real hungry one ogo after a healthy strong horse unless it is lying down. they are really scared of injury...if they get injured, they cannot hunt and they die.

we had a large male 150+ lbs...his paw print measured 5 3/4" across...killed an old old and a health quarter horse mare. He got the mare when she was lying down sleeping...the lion worked his way up to her down wind, by the time the horse got scent of the cat, it was too late. Really sad to she was a sweet horse. the cat could have gone two houses down and ate the nasty gelding that lived there but no it kills the sweetie pie.

Always keep your dreams no matter what life throws at you. It does not mean you have to follow through right now but there is always hope for later.
