Hey rodriguezpoultry
I talked to you a while back about getting Langshans and about near by breeders, anyway, I just wanted to mention, I have 3 incubators all foam ones (isn't that crazy?) the two I use to incubate are turbofan Hova-bators 2 different models and the one I use as a hatcher but also incubate with, is a still air Little Giant, which I had decent hatches with it, but the tempature was usually cooler on the edges and just didn't insolate nearly as well as the Hova-bators. The Hova-bator kind of sits "inside" the bottom tray, it's sort of interlocking I guess, while the little giant's sits on top of the bottom tray. Oh and the thermostat on the Hova-bators I find to be much more manageable, my little giant still air is pretty touchy. Just my experience with styrofoam incubators. I belive there is a still air Hova-bator too.
By the way, I did order some chicks from Murray McMurray, I know how hatcheries birds go, but I thought I would play around with them anyway, I just may get lucky with them. I ordered 12 white, 12 black, and 6 buff cochins plus they gave me a couple extras of the langshans.
Good luck with your incubating and chicks.
Oh, and how are you sexing your chicks?
and can you cross black and white together and get blue offspring in later generations?
I have a hunch the first cross will look like "shady whites" maybe.
