Langshan Thread!!!

Gah!!! Just my luck! :barnie
Wanted #1 to be a pullet. Also, wanted more pullets than cockerels.
OH WAIT!!!! There is MORE hatching on NYD!!! Sweeeeet!!!! :weee

I'm just guessing based on comb and wing feathering. Mikaela said something about wing feathering and 2 and 3 are feathered different than the others.

Aw. Well that's a shame! Doesn't stuff coming into the US get Xrayed as well?

Something funny was said to me once. To be sure to wrap the eggs in tin foil to prevent the eggs from being ruined. I sat there a second and replied with "If aluminum foil worked against Xrays, wouldn't the X-ray tech be wearing that instead of the heavy lead vests?"

I was finally able to move my bantam Langshans outside and move my other cockerel into another pen. He was getting pecked and run all over by his larger and more mature brother. Hopefully he will really blossom now!

Any news on anyone else's project?

I checked into this since I have a science backgound. Aluminum does in fact deflect x-rays. My thought is that lead is used because it is so soft. Its shape is able to change, even in thick plates. Try shaping a 1/4 inch (0.5 cm) piece of aluminum. Just my opinion.

I'll say it's a pullet. Thorleif goes with cockerel! :D

What shall the prize be for the winning party?! :D
Oh, no! I've been away from my computer all day. So, it is my "pullet" that you are questioning, Thorleif. I'm pretty confident that she is a she. She is very girlie and does not have the roo hackle and saddle feathers that Gandalf has. I just changed her leg band and she came close to squatting for me. I'll be very disappointed if she is fooling me and ends up crowing. I'll try to get a pic of the two of them together after Christmas.
