Langshan Thread!!!

Welcome Cindy!!! It's been quite awhile since we've talked! The coop just didn't have much of a Langshan following. Such a shame too! So glad to see you here!

Walked downstairs tonight and of course the Sussex had passed on. I just don't get it. It wouldn't walk much either, which is why I put it downstairs in the brooder, to see if it would start walking. No use in keeping something that weak around here.

Glad you were able to keep a female Debi! Please keep us updated on your breedings! Photos when you get a chance!!! :D

Looks like I'll be taking 6 or 7 birds to Ohio. I don't need them and in anticipation of my leaving next month back to Oklahoma, I am cutting down what I can. Others will be staying. Two black pullets in particular are must-haves for me.

These are my two bantam pullets. One of them actually laid her first egg today.

I very much like the black one in the back on your first picture! Nice profile on her!

Have you been to any shows? The last show I went to there were 5 pairs for sale. None of them had what I was looking for in my own line, but they would have made a great start for someone!

I'm going through my birds with a fine-toothed comb tonight.

I have a gentleman who is getting my birds. Some of them I keep going back and forth on. Others I've made the decision on.

One male in particular has me second-guessing myself. He has excellent leg length, good wing carriage and excellent color.

The other male is smaller, has a "stouter" look to him and has looser wing carriage, but I believe that is because of his age. The younger male looks to have a wider stance, good leg feathering (same as the other male), a nice dark eye and a MASSIVE head on him. This bird "speaks" to me, but I had chosen the aforementioned male LONG before this one.

I went ahead and swapped them out as I have learned I should listen to my gut, but I'll be darned if that makes my head think any easier!

All of my extra birds are gone! SO glad I was able to get them to another person who is going to use them to continue the breed and fancy! Hopefully he will join us to help keep us updated on his progress with his breeding program!

So nice to have the extra pen space to put my other chicks in to raise up!
