This is my Blue Langshans. Look at the feathering around the trail.

I'd say that this one looks a lot more like the cockerel than the pullet!
I'd say that this one looks a lot more like the cockerel than the pullet! My roo sounds like a dog howling. It's the funniest thing. I'm thinking you have a roo. Here's another shot of a red sexlink, and the langshan's tail. Looks like some of the feathers are starting to curve? Maybe I'm imagining it. The last couple of mornings have brought some strange sounds from it. Not a "ba-gawk" but not quite a crow. My husband and I were in the kitchen and I heard it. Hubby looked at me and said "is that KID?! It doesn't sound like the chicken noises!"![]()
That is funny. They get really loud!Yeah, that's what i'm thinking. Was able to take some video this morning. Jerk started making noise this AM and I ran out and was able to get some video before I ran down to get him to shut up! It's interesting. I'm pretty sure he is trying to get his 2 girls to get up. He was making a lot of noise until the last hen came out of their roosting loft area, and then he shut up. Didn't start again until he was up on the tallest perch in the run, then he started making noise again. Please excuse the state of the yard. I converted the enclosure from a duck pen to a chicken coop and haven't found a good place for the extra rocks or extraneous branches/sticks, AND have been working towards keeping the dogs away from the back side of the run.
Does she have a straight comb? It doesn't look like it. She looks like a mixed breed to me.I'd love some input re: this bird.
Purchased her a couple of days ago. The seller swears up and down that it's actually a female and she does in fact lay eggs. He has no reason to lie to me, as we have an arrangement that if I end up with a roo or a particularly noisy bird, he will swap the bird out. Either way, there seems to be either "bad" genetics or some sort of abnormality/mix in there. As far as I know, black langshans are supposed to have very dark eyes and be solid black. This bird has normal brown eyes and has white streaks. Doesn't bother me as I will not be breeding the bird, but more curious than anything.
