Langshan Thread!!!

I have searched and searched and have failed in trying to find the thread where we were all posting our Langshan pics.

So this thread is a secondary thread. Because I'm pretty sure there was another Langshan thread.

This thread is for everyone to post photos of their Langshans! Bantams, large fowl, black, white, blue, splash (I LOVE splash...). ALL of them!!!

I'll post photos later, but I need to see some Langshans!

Hi Exo, I see this is your first post. And you have Blue Langshans!
Welcome to BYC! :welcome
Where did you get your chicks from?

Hi Finnie,

He/she is my first Langshan and I'm also new to chickens. I wasn't sure if he was really blue. I saw the parents ( hen and roo) and they were both black ??

I live in Quebec, Canada. I got the chick from a breeder in Saint-Just-de-Bretenière.

The chicks going to turn 4 weeks tomorrow...probably too early for sexing ?

Thanks you :)

I suspect you have a boy, but with you holding it, I can’t see the things I usually look for. Does it have bare patches on its shoulders and a short tail? Some of my Langhans were sexable early, and some that I thought I could tell were not what I thought.

So the bald shoulder patches and lack of tale tells me boy! Is he the one to run forward in the brooder instead of run away? That’s a male trait, and people take it for being “friendly”. It’s actually more of a show of dominance. :p
I think it’s also the reason most people’s “favorite” chick ends up being the boy in the group.
