I tried the Vicks on the two of the birds that died. It was a last ditch effort. Nothing wrong with their breathing. One eye seals shut then the plaque in the throat makes them stop eating.

So far so good! I vaccinated everyone without symptoms. Everyone is on a broad spectrum antibiotic and Nutri Drench in the water. It seems to be helping so far.

I faced similar situation here and it is stressful. At the time I didn't have the forethought to put eggs in the incubator. I lost a few birds and everyone else was fine after that. This brings me to a question I hope you can answer MRod. If we use antiobiotics and the birds get better then doesn't that mean the bird is always a carrier of 'whatever' now and we can't sell them without stating they are carriers? I have been mulling this over the past month not wanting to cull everyone just so I could move on with clean breeding and selling but knowing I will if that is what the answers I get indicate I have to do. Will you weigh in on this for me??

In this, I believe that birds that may repeatedly get sick or may spread the disease to another flock through simple contact should be disclosed as having had the disease.

For example, Salmonella, Mycoplasma Gallisepticum, Infectious Bronchitis, etc. Fowl Pox, once a bird has it, they will not get it again and are immune. It will not resurface and will not spread to another flock so long as there are no scabs and the bird has recovered completely.

I want to know who in the heck near me has birds that have Fowl Pox....

Number 4 dropped dead today and I have a feeling another 3 will be following soon...this sucks monkey turds.

And please, call me ropo or Mika (or Mikaela) whichever is easiest!
