Langshan Thread!!!

We were having this discussion ealier and BGMatt was helping me with that question. He thought two blacks didn't make a blue but could do a recessive white. He did find a post in a different breed where two black made blue. What do you think?
I'm just starting to learn about BBS breeding. Does a recessive white look different than a white? That chick doesn't look like the white chicks that I hatched last year. Here is a pic of two whites and two splash that I hatched last year.

2 whites and 2 splash

It did go well! 7 out of 8 hatched out and one egg still sits just in case. Here's the babies! Only one little white one. The other chicks are sold but I am keeping the white.
Yay! Sounds like a very successful hatch. Edit: Petrock, how are your white chicks yellow down? All the white chicks I've ever had have been smokey gray as chicks? As far as Langshans anyway

Don't ask me! LOL! I just hatched them and watched them grow! These two came from Skyline/Pawhead. I thought that they were splash when they hatched but when they grew, it became apparent that they were whites. I was not expecting any white so it was a surprise! Maybe someone else will chime in who has whites? Mikaela, my white roo hatched from your eggs. What do your white Langshan chicks look like?

I know there's two different whites, dominant (gold white?) that has yellow chicks and recessive (silver white, stay white etc) that has the grey chicks, I just didn't know you could have both in Langshans. Well that's why I always say we're always learning.

My chick looks exactly like the pictures you posted of the blues! That would be awesome if it turned out to be blue. I guess I shall see what color the feathers turn out. I honestly didn't expect anything but the black ones so it's kind of fun seeing what it winds up as!

My Langshan eggs from James Smith in AZ arrived in the mail today! He sent me 35 and 30 of them survived the trip. They are sitting and resting while I get my incubator up and running! I hope that at least a few hatch!
