Langshan Thread!!!

     Now, how are those epic eggs coming along dear sir?

I'm lucky enough to be able to go home on lunch break, there are 4 Langshan chicks out with a 5th one that is all but out. Looks like 2 blacks and 2 blue so far.

I snapped a few pics of my Langshan/Langshan mix trio. The lighter colored blue one with a small tail and fewer feathers is a cockerel, I think. I am hoping that he is pure Langshan but there is a chance that he is a Langshan/Silver Penciled Rock mix. The darker blue is also hopefully a pure Langshan and the little black one I'm pretty sure is a Langshan/black mutt mix chick. She just looks different than my black Langshan chicks have looked. They are 4 weeks old today and my mama hen cut them loose yesterday. I was hoping that she would take care of them for a few more weeks.










You can see in this pic that the lighter colored chick has a very small tail and is less feathered. I'm guessing that this along with his behavior indicates that it is a he.

How is the hatch going??? I have 3 eggs that are due to hatch tomorrow but have pips in them today!

Hatch update: 8 are out. Apparently I can't count, only 15 eggs in incubator not 18 (I used cardboard egg tray to set them in since shipped eggs supposedly hatch better when upright due to air cell oddities) and just assumed that each row held 6 eggs when it only held 5. Man I'm dumb. Anyway, looks like mostly Blue with one Splash.

Will post pictures after I take them out if incubator tonight (unless anything else starts pipping then I won't open incubator.)

I'm in the middle of a hatch right now. I have 1 LF Black out and one pupped and one more thinking about hatching. (I have an egg eater in the pen now)

My bantam pen is a Black split to white cock with one white hen and 4 Black split to white or black hens. Out so far are 4-5 white, 2 black, and one blue. That blue surprised me. Out of all the bantamweights I hatched last year, I've never hatched a blue. I'll try to post pictures. By the way, I'm swimming in bantam eggs right now if anybody is interested. My line is composed of Horstman x Fred Ness, Ness, and Ness x (Horstman x Ness) all together working on my own line
