Laptop crashed

Wow! I'm glad I started this thread. Thanks for the support.

I tried everything. I did find the restore disk that came with the laptop, but it won't even accept that.

I will be backing up my beloved pictures from now on, LOL. HOWEVER, lucky me, I have this Asus tablet that had web storage on it and I could sinc my pictures back and forth, so I Found my pics!!!! So far this tablet has been worth it's weight in gold. It even caused my DH to sell his apple tablet and get the same thing.

Yes, flashdrives are my friend, and I'll be having quite a few for my pictures.

Hemet, I'm proud of you that you're getting in to this. It takes hours and hours to learn things on it, but there are plenty of websites to give you instructions, and also a ******for Dummies books.

Ivan, I know cd's for storage, external hard drives and flash drives, (Hemet, flash drives are memory you can carry on your keychain). I don't know what a passport is.

Ivan, the thing will be going on Ebay as is. Someone will get a good pc if they know how to fix this one. I ordered a new one that's coming today!

I have another laptop that's going on ebay as well. It's a 17 inch HP with alot of RAM and memory, the problem with that one is that the screen picture continuously "rolls". Probably another easy fix for someone. Or do you suggest getting them fixed before I sell them?

If the shots are irreplaceable, please click on the link in my previous post. Removing the Hard Drive (temporarily) from the laptop is covered in manual (probably youtube vid howto), the removed drive is simply plugged in to the `reader' (illustrated in link) and the `reader' connected to a USB port on another windows based machine (laptop/desktop - see the vid posted on NewEgg on how to setup). Copy the pics to that machine, format the HD and plug back into the ASUS. Do you have any friends that like, or have been recommended to you, as competent with computer hardware? Kids/grandkids that want to make a buck using web to hunt down the make/model numbers search for previous recalls/crashes/fixes? `Dead'/`misbehaving machines/software do bring the lowest price, so root around for some dedicated troubleshooters in your circles. Good Luck! Ed: A couple of removable storage options: L: Kingston 120GB/SATA/USB microdrive in a StarTech enclosure. R: Western Digital .5TB USB/Firewire2 Passport. Read reviews of whatever storage form you settle on (buy the previous generation after model is discontinued - just about as good, for all intents and purposes - any problems will have already been revealed/any firmware updates will require only one download - and usually half the cost). P.S. When selling machines with Hard drives installed (that one has been using) one should always perform a low level format of drives in machines (write zeros to that puppy or sell without drives).

Got my new computer today. I got to download all those pics from Webstorage. How lucky!

I loved the easy photo edit that windows always had. Can't find it on windows 8. It was so easy.
