Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!" Hatch-a-long

IN OTHER NEWS: My pipped poult had not made any progress, so I went in for an eggtopsy. Poor thing was still alive, shrinkwrapped, but had not yet pulled in its blood from the membrane. So I wrapped it in wet paper towels, jacked up the humidity in the bator, and sang a fight song.

Then I checked the other eggs in there:
One pipped internally, dead in shell
One died, and was floaty in there---I didnt pip the shell
One pipped internally, ALIVE STILL, but in same condidtion of the first.

So I wrapped it in wet warm paper towels and sang it its own fight song.

FIIIIGHT MIGHTY POULTS!
OH FIGHT FOR TURKEY PRIDE!
NOW WITH STRENGTH WE SPREAD OUR WINGS
ITS TIME TO PIP WITH PRIIIIIIIIDE!

WE ARE THE POULTS
AND WE FIGHT WITH ALL OUR ZEAL!
PIP OUT! NOW FOR THE TURKEY MEAL
AND FIGHT ON FOR TURKEY PRIDE!

I too just did an eggtopsy and the baby was dead and had even pooed. I hate loosing babies. I was up till 1am assisting my EE cross to make sure it was well on its way to recovery. The baby wasn't making any progress since pipping so I helped it along. Yes I know you are not supposed to help but I cant help it. Still 2 more to hatch that have movement inside. Don't know if I should try to help or not. I hate letting babies die....what should I do?

I have a question. Does anyone know the CHA meets?

I have 1 egg left in lockdown and it may be a turkey egg.

My BIL found it in the woods when mowing and wanted me to hatch it.

It is the last one in the incubators, and I was going to turn them off till August or September.

Well yesterday I won not 1 but 2 auctions on BYC.

So I was just wondering where Chicken Hatchers Anonymous meets.

I am starting to think that I may have a bad case of "Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!"

*puzzled look* Every time I move a batch of eggs from the incubator/turners into the hatcher, I find myself writing dates on freshly laid eggs and setting them in the vacant spots... I have a bad case of c. hatchaholis permanensius.

I was thinking the same thing... I was making some scrambled eggs this AM and was like... are these fertile or not?

Can someone tell me there opinion.... if they are I may put some in the bator.

The camera was not cooperating and I got the best pictures I could..

Methinks those eggs are fertile.

Finished making a new pen for the 15 chickies that are 3 weeks old. My broody hen hatched 6 of the 8 eggs, so far. The incubator is down to 19 eggs, due the 21st. After this hatch, I've got to take a break from the incubator!!! My DH has been a great enabler, but after making this pen he needs a little sanity break.
