Add 2 more broodies...the goose went down and I lost another OEGB

So the count is 101 eggs in my 1588, 14 or so eggs in my 1583, 4 broody chicken hens with 22 eggs total, 3 broody ducks with 20-something eggs total, and 1 broody goose with 7 or 8 eggs

This is the first time I've ever had this many in there. When I hatch quail eggs I usually stack them among the other eggs in the turner, but this is ridiculous! I've got another 7 guinea eggs I stole from a nest that need to go in too, and if these EE and BCM eggs don't sell I'll probably find a place to stick them.

You NEED a cabinet 'bator (or a padded room) but your sure in good company here!

I need to wire up the fan and heat element and put the wire on the bottoms of the trays and my cabinet bator will be finished!

Can you imagine what kind of trouble I could get into with that thing??

Luckily, most everything in the bator will be sold. I'm keeping the serama, pheasants, and maybe the chukars. Everything else is up for grabs

ETA: The cabinet I made has 5 trays, 4 for setting and 1 for hatching. I put a 30-ct. egg flat inside one of the trays and there was lots of space around it, so I imagine each tray will hold at least 48 eggs

Plus I'm keeping the 1583 to use as a hatcher too

Wow!!! I feel right at home here. I am trying to get a 100% hatch on my homemade incubator. I hatched 15 out of 18 silkie eggs on Easter. It has been empty since then. I just found 16 eggs that are silkie X. I had to put them in the bator!! My DH is an enabler. He climbed the hay loft to retrieve the eggs. He asked " Do you have room in the incubator"? I made it one week with an empty incubator!

I am now waiting for my Bantam Araucana/silkieX and Polish crested/silkieX.

Cool! I want to buy one (easy option) but I'm pricing materials to make one.

I have a big old refrigerator that works but uses uber amounts of power. I was going to put new thermostat on it and use it as a 'cheese cave' but DH suggested I should buy a wine fridge for the cheese so... I have a huge, 2 door insulated box with adjustable shelves tempting me to turn it into a 'bator and hatcher.

I could very defiantly get into trouble with that!

So far it's cost about $90 to make the one I've done not counting the cost of the wire and hardware (had that laying around). The plywood was $20, heat element was $18, fan and thermostat were $40 I think, and the wood for the trays was $14.

On January first of this year, I had 9 laying hens and 1 rooster. Life was quiet, well, as quiet as it can be with a rooster around, and rather nice. Then, this wild idea hit, ok, was spoon fed by all of you here, and an incubator seemed like a grand thing to own. So, with a little finaggeling, my dh bought me a brinsea incubator. Sigh. Those incubators are great, good hatches for the novice. sigh. and soo addicting. Where am I suppose to put all these chickens???

Needless to say, the incubator is running and a broody is sitting... I'll go fill out the form, more to admit, I do have a problem than any other reason.
