Laree, I just am going to have to remind you that the contest is for BIRDS only

I didn't say it was for the contest. *sheesh*

I get told I have lizard skin and ugly kids. I see how it is.

...

Ok. Daphne isn't as scary as this rooster, but she is displeased. Very displeased.

Well while we are talking about kid pictures....this is the kind of sense of humor my husband has. (sent this pick to me while I was at school)

And no....he didn't clean it off. He sent them off to bed and I had to scrub it off in the morning before school.

Here is one of my oldest boy when he was 2 and very chunky enjoying a pudding....way too much.

I hope you have a print of it and have it hanging on your wall. No I am not just sucking up because your rooster scares me either!

ETA - I do have a picture of DS when he was much younger stuck on the commode but I am saving that one for blackmailing him later

Not my roo, unfortunately (fortunately?). It was a pic stuck in my stink-eye thread.

I don't have the black and white one printed yet. I ordered the ones I showed off during the Easter Hatch, but when they arrived, they were really yellow, rather than sepia-toned.

...these ones:

ETA: Costco is reprinting them for free.

That is officially my 8th broody hen in the past month. I was hoping she was just being snippy this morning, but no, she's still angry and on her nest.

Thanks to my insane broody brothel, I am now down to 1 normal sized nesting box and 4 small chicken nesting boxes.

With my leghorns as exceptions, I am out of small chickens. Everyone else is raising chicks. I am also out of gigantic chickens (black betty the jersey giant is broody) and my medium sized layers are thinning quickly.

No more chickens can fall out of rank!

I guess the upside is if she's still broody when I get my shipped eggs later this week I could potentially use her as my incubator overflow.

Must be something in the water. My BRs would never go broody. They have such attitude. The rooster doesn't even have to drop hints. Some of them even walk in front of him and squat down. "Girls girls, why buy the chicken if they can get the eggs for free?"

Locked down my eggs last night! 11 shipped eggs, and miraculously, ONE of my own was fertile!

So 12 eggs in the bator, and 2 under Buffy (my broody).
Tonight, I saw one of the eggs move. Somehow, I am always so surprised when I realize there is something alive in there!
