Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!" Hatch-a-long

It's ALWAYS a good morning when you wake up to chicks in your incubator. It's a better morning when you wake up to TURKEN chicks in your incubator.

Ah, love.

4 chicks out, 1 is a turken. A few more pips. I've got to head off to work and then the dentist, it's going to be another 12 hours before these guys will be able to leave the incubator.

I'm quite sure you are NOT alone! Since yesterday, I am in the midst of my second incubator hatch for this spring. And I have a 2nd incubator running that my boyfriend THINKS contains eggs from the coop that I pulled from under a broody. Well, technically, they ARE in there... along with 15 dominique eggs I had shipped. And today duck eggs should arrive... could get ugly!

And I also give away chicks, so it's not like my flock is too large, but you are right. It's the "process". Setting them, tending them, anxiously watching the hatch...

I love my sportsman. I put 70 Pheasant eggs in a couple of days ago and in another couple of days I will add some chicken eggs. When the eggs start pipping, I move in here and start sleeping on the couch in our guest apartment. If we have company then everything gets moved over to the house.

I don't know how you do that

I have started planning my hatches during the week so I'm NOT nearby. If I'm not at work I tend to poke my fingers in and meddle where I shouldn't! I am safely at work now so the chicks due Thursday can go about their business unmolested. BUT I had a chick in the bater this morning and several pips and was very tempted to call in sick! I have zero self control
