Laree's "I CAN'T STOP MYSELF FROM HATCHING!!!" Hatch-a-long

Faykokowv she has Nates lines. I can never remember his last name. The eggs came and I was shocked at how dark they are. Absolutely beautiful!!

I am sorry about the pheasants. Maybe they are slow.

Grab her when she comes back!

On an odd note, my lav Orp pullet from the NYD hatch laid her first egg yesterday. It was a perfect tiny pullet egg except for the fact that it was GREEN? I know they are a project color, but I was totally surprised by the color. I didn't know that they were using blue egg layers in the mix.

Wow! I think originally they used an Ameraucana/Araucana (sp?) to get the color in the Orps, but that was years ago in the hjink line. The gene could still be floating around. Who did you get your eggs from?

Left the pheasant eggs just in case.

I found the hiding place and 4 chicks with her. They just run back and forth so fast I really thought I saw more.

These eggs were supper dark too. Almost like Marans eggs but I love speckles and most had them. I'm pretty sure if going by the eyeliner thing that most are roos.

I'm getting more GLCs eggs from the breeder. They sure are pretty and I don't want my one to be an outcast and have identity issues. LOL

I got them from a lady on eBay. I asked her about it and she did respond back. She has hinkjc line lavenders (bought directly from Charles and Jodie) and is breeding to pure black orps (not sure what line there) to improve type. She is as stunned as I am and says that she has never seen any green eggs out of her birds, has very secure breeding pens and doesn't have a blue egg layer on her farm. I can't be 100% sure she is telling the truth but I really do believe she is. Just one of those things that make you go HMMMMM.

My super awesome broody Silkie mamma just successfully completed her first staggered hatch!!

I really didn't think she'd do it, but lo and behold, she did. I gave her a few bantam Ameraucana eggs and she kept moving them around in the crate, and burying them in the shavings, so I figured they wouldn't hatch and gave her a few large fowl Ameraucana eggs a few days later. A couple days after that I noticed that she had ALL the eggs back together and was sitting on them all, so I left them. She hatched one bantam chick on Saturday, and two large fowl chicks yesterday!! (Ok, actually three but one didn't make it).

My worst nightmare came true last night. THE POWER WENT OUT!!!! All night! I woke up this morning and flew downstairs to the incubator. 79 DEGREES!!!!! I tore it open and started candling the eggs. I had two that had pipped last night and they were still alive. One was even trying to hatch. Luckily most had hatched yesterday so there were only a few left. 2 pippers and 1 unpipped. I grabbed all of them and held them in my hands. I ran over to the brooder and all my chickies were huddled in the corner. I took them out to the garage where it was warmer. I sat on the couch with my precious eggs. I assisted the chick that was trying to hatch for it looked like it was running a little slow. I held its little wet body against my chest while I assisted the other in hatching as well. The third and unpipped egg I held under my shirt against my stomach. They both felt pretty chilled and as I sat with my newly hatch chicks the power finally came on. The 2 hatched chicks are resting warmly in the brooder, getting stepped on occasionally by the other chicks. My incubator is cranking away once again trying to save my unhatched egg. Man! What a morning! Jeeves! WHERE IS MY COFFEE? Oh wait, I am the Jeeves...

Congats on the Hacth. On my wellies. Let them grow some before counting on the eyeliner . I have has several that had hardly any eyeliner and a pretty good v head, be pullets, and some that had eyeliner like Brett Micheals and Johnny Depp be roos. Enjoy. Time will tell. Some pics would be nice.

My momma disappeared

Search around and can't find her. If I can wake up early enough I might sit out back and see where they come from.

I had to pull a FBCM out of a box and then in the SPPR pen, same thing. Everyone wantes to go broodie on me all of a sudden. I bought Silkies for that. The pullet hasn't laid yet and the hen laid about 4 and haven't seen another egg in 2 months. They're taking up space and freeloading and my girls that are laying are trying to be mommas.

Sorry to hear your momma is missing, she probably took them back to the nest.

I contacted ksf59 about her Wellies. I had never heard of Bob Fugate, and she said in a post once he is in Kansas. So I asked her about them/him. I just set 12 from faykokowv, I got them in a swap! I was so excited I could barely type out mine!

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to get a great hatch from them!

Sent you some info about My Fugate wellies. Funny most assume all the "chicken nuts" are she's. I bee a tough ole rooster however.
