Well Laree I made it through your three weeks without setting ANY eggs!

I have even resisted the temptations of my broody that I just keep throwing out of the nest each day. She hasn't given up yet but I haven't given in yet either.

I do have to say that the 2 1/2 month olds have been my biggest deterrent since I need to get housing figured out for them fast. The turkeys are about to go stir crazy in the brooder.

Good here although I wish it would warm up. It's been highs in the low to mid 50s and rainy. My garden has died, been replanted and died again ad nauseum.

I've got my 14 babies in the basement that are eating like wild wolverines. They eat probably 4 cups of food a day. It's crazy. I've never had chicks eat that much.

I have to apoligize to our prize winners. I STILL have not mailed them out. It's been an unfortunate couple of weeks, and any free time has been spent on my super-sneaky project. I will post pictures after it is delivered...

I feel like the most blessed old chicken man on the planet!

Laree brought over some chicks to put under my persistent broody but that's not the biggest blessing.

Her husband made me A BROODER for outside... I'll get pics tomorrow. My wife is overjoyed that she won't have to have baby chicks in the house, ever again! It is SO BEAUTIFUL! It even had a bow with a card to my wife cuz Laree knows how much my wife loves to have baby chicks in the house for two weeks (NOT!) after they hatch!!

This brooder is AMAZING and she even put tubs beneath it to catch the poo!!!

What an entirely absolutely wonderful surprise!

What a great thing to have friends!

I almost want to get the bators out again!

Mahonri's super-sneaky present:

I wanted to ---FINISH IT--- finish it, but I really really really needed my parking space back. It is getting hot. I also refrained from painting it, because I would have chosen "center-stripe yellow" or "hotpants pink" or something horrid. I *heart* reject paint from Home Depot.

When I come across some more expanded metal, I want to replace the hardware cloth.

The front comes down for easy cleaning. I am also making some front doors for it, for later installation if needed. (Mahonri is super-tall, so he probably doesn't need them)
